Lebanese Lesbian Jailed in Dubai
AFP has released a news piece about a Lebanese and Bulgarian lesbian couple that have been jailed in Dubai for indecent acts on a public beach. The news release has been re-printed in many newspapers around the world, bringing lots of damaging publicity to the unfortunate incident. You can read the Daily Star story here and of course, Al-Arabiya has published the story as well with homophobic remarks pouring in. We’re currently figuring out the best way to offer support.

Egypt Trip
In a continued effort to support lesbians in Arab cities, Meem made a trip to Cairo, Egypt to meet with a number of lesbian women who shared their own stories and experiences on living in a homophobic society. Meem also held some brainstorming sessions to strategize the plan for the creation of a permanent and safe support group for non-heterosexual women in Cairo.
